To Save Severe Malnourished Children In India - World Vision India

Join hands with World Vision India to save malnourished children in remote corners of the country.

One-third of the world’s malnourished children live in India. Malnourishment is the lack of proper nutrition caused by not having enough to eat, not eating enough of the right things, or being unable to use the food that one does eat. It is common in children, especially in rural areas and inflicts long-term damage to the child. A malnourished child is more likely to contract infections and diseases that may be fatal.

Optimal nutrition is critical in the early years of a child. The lack of proper nutrition makes children prone to stunting and wasting, which may increase mortality rates. For instance, Kanu (4) lives in the semi-arid region of Alwar which has a constant water shortage. It directly affects the crops grown in the region and the food Kanu and many children like him receive. Due to a lack of proper nutrition, Kanu was diagnosed with Severe Acute Malnutrition and required immediate aid to help save him.

In situations like these, World Vision India steps in to help save malnourished children. It works with communities and children to provide resources that enable the communities to curb malnutrition than providing a temporary solution.
